We're radically retro, fabulously funky, and anything but boring!!
Here's the skinny...
What's the Krewe of Retro Renegades all about, dude?
Radically Retro... Fabulously Funky... Fun Loving...
Regardless of how you would describe the newest Krewe to hit the Tampa Bay area, the Krewe of Retro Renegades was created by a group of friends and family for the purpose of honoring the musical history of the 1960’s, 70’s & 80’s, as well as the culture-makers who helped shape the world by fostering true volunteerism by our members, encouraging friendship among community members of diverse backgrounds, and of course participating in the various parades in and around the Tampa Bay area.
Groovy Garbs, Far Out Fashion, & Tubular Threads!
Some fads and trends come and go, but the iconic fashion styles of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s definitely haven't gone out of style with the Krewe of Retro Renegades! From the bright tie-dyed colors of the 60s to the platform shoes and sequin shirts that lit up the disco in the 70s, and on to the big hair, neon colors, and zebra-print pants that rocked the 80s, our members are timeless!
Welcome to the Swingin' 60s...
It was an era of wild music festivals, freedom marches, and psycadelic fun! 2001: A Space Odessey, Psycho, and Hard Day's Night were on the big screen while the Beach Boys and James Brown were topping the charts. As for the fashion, bright colors, big hair, and short miniskirts were all the rage!
Groving Through the 70s...
As the disco era rose to fame with the dyn-o-mite sounds of the Bee Gees and Abba, the 70s era saw political movements supporting women's rights and protecting the environment. The Godfather, Rocky, and Star Wars were topping the box office while platform shoes & bell bottoms were the hottest fashion trends!
Rocking in the 80s...
Before the 80s had us worrying about holes in the ozone, it helped create some items that we simply couldn't do without...boomboxes, personal computers, and cell phones! On the silver screen were Ghostbusters, Aliens, and Airplane while Madonna, Whitney, and Guns & Roses rocked the airwaves. As for fashion, it was all about teased hair, neon colors, and ripped jeans.
